Peter Van Houten wants to convey his views and messages about the evil disease of cancer. He passed on the story of Anna with blood cancer to tell the pain of people with critical illness. When everything went as usual, Anna was about to start this crazy new treatment regimen include wheatgrass, low doses of arsenic, then the story suddenly stopped. He didn’t continue the story, most readers thought that maybe Anna died suddenly so the story couldn’t go on and it made people feel extremely depressed. True to the title of the story, everything ended so suddenly that it brought loss and pity to the protagonist. Unfinished story makes people extremely confused and curious, it is also constant pain in the hearts of every reader. As far as I know, the title of the book means that sin is not intrinsic to itself. But the striking fact is that all the young characters in the story have cancer and that is why they lost faith in the future. Everything doesn’t seem like a pain or tragedy, but it is the beginning of love that makes the story seem to bring pain to each character. Whether that person has finished or has not finished the story, we all feel a sadness at the end. So why is there such a sad story? If Hazel and Gus didn’t start their relationship in the first place, it would be. From there, we see that even though they already know their current situation, they still begin to end and end as an indescribable sadness.
